The sable antelope horns, that can be over 3 feet long, aren't just for show. These animals have been known to use their horns to protect themselves from predators such as lions.
Sable antelope live in herds. A maternal, or breeding, herd is made up of several females and their young along with one adult male. Males who do not have a harem live in bachelor herds.
