Red-eared Slider
Red-eared Slider
Red-eared sliders are sometimes called “dime store turtles” because they were once widely sold as pets. This is not as common now because it was found that they carry salmonella which can make their owners very sick.
Male sliders are smaller than females and have longer claws. Juveniles are more carnivorous than their adult counterparts.
