Emu
The Emu is the largest bird inhabiting Australia. Emus can run up to 40 mph for short bursts, and their stride can be up to nine feet. They are also excellent swimmers.
After the female lays her eggs it is the male who incubates them and raises the brood. A female may mate with more than one male in a season.
