Chilean Flamingo
Chilean Flamingo
What appears to be the flamingo's knee is actually its ankle. Flamingos have webbed toes, which help them swim and stand on soft bottoms of the lakes and lagoons.
The beak of a flamingo chick is straight when it is young. This helps it feed from the parent bird's mouth. As the chick grows and starts to eat food on its own the beak curves to look like the adult's beak.
