Baton Rouge Zoo Foundation Launches Executive Director Search

March 31 2022

The Baton Rouge Zoo Foundation (BRZF) board of directors has launched a national search for its next executive director. The BRZF—formerly Friends of the Baton Rouge Zoo—engaged Emergent Method, a Louisiana-based management consulting firm, to coordinate the search.

“There has never been a more exciting time for the Baton Rouge Zoo and the Baton Rouge Zoo Foundation as we work with our partners to reimagine the Baton Rouge Zoo,” said Ralph Ney, BRZF board chairman. “Our next executive director will serve a key role in shaping treasured memories for future generations of Baton Rouge residents. We are confident this search will attract some of the nation’s most qualified candidates who share the foundation’s commitment to enhancing our zoo and its impact on the greater Baton Rouge community.”

The BRZF executive director leads the foundation’s effort to work collaboratively with the leadership teams and staff of the Baton Rouge Zoo and East Baton Rouge Parish’s Recreation and Park Commission (BREC). The executive director is tasked with creating and implementing strategic and fundraising strategies to grow the Baton Rouge Zoo’s facilities and programming, cultivating relationships with key donors and community stakeholders, and serving as an accessible, seasoned leader overseeing daily operations for the foundation.

The BRZF is a nonprofit organization responsible for supporting the Zoo’s conservation efforts, raising funds for the Zoo’s major events, improvements, and additions, and increasing public knowledge of the Zoo’s facilities and programming.
