Session 1 - Showoffs! - Ever wonder why peacocks have such beautiful tails? Or how animals communicate without ever saying a word? Come find out this week as we observe the colorful peacocks, watch some silly monkeys and listen to some unusual animal calls. We'll find out why bright colors mean "stay back" and why a "smile" from a monkey may not be such a good thing.

Session 2 - Amazing Animal Adaptations - What if you were able to fly? Could you use a prehensile tail? Animals have some amazing abilities, and we'll find out why by exploring their wonderfully unique adaptations in this week-long adventure.

Session 3 - Home Sweet Habitat - Oceans, deserts, swamps and savannahs: home is where the habitat is! We'll visit animals from all over the globe and find out what makes them feel right at home! We'll take an imaginary journey ranging from the bottom of the deepest ocean, to the top of the highest mountain, and find out how our planet's amazing creatures survive in these different habitats.

Session 4 - Wet & Wild: Wacky Wetlands - Campers will dive into the deep, dark, mysterious depths of the underwater world. We will discover all that aquatic life has to offer as we delve through the oceans, rivers, lakes and swamps. No landlubbers allowed here!

Session 5 - Legends, Myths and Monsters - What do dragons, unicorns, big foot and sea serpents have in common with real animals? This week we will learn about mythical beasts, folklore and legends that have inspired the imagination for thousands of years, and we will create our very own mythological creature with a natural history all its own!

Session 6 - Nature Detectives - Be a nature sleuth! Come use your investigative skills to find clues and tracks that lead to the scene of all of the animal action. We will use magnifying glasses, binoculars and our own imaginations to find out what's hidden in nature! Create your very own nature journal with sketches and observations to remind you of your summer camp adventure at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo!

Session 7 - Continental Drift - Everybody needs a place to call home, but what makes each continent unique? We'll take a historical tour through the seven continents, learning about continental differences (and similarites) between all of the flora and fauna on the planet!

Session 8 - ZOO-ology: The Inner Workings of the Baton Rouge Zoo - Have you ever wondered how many pounds of food a giraffe eats a day? Did you know that it takes more than just a shovel, a hose and some food to keep our animals happy? Come explore some behind-the-scenes areas of the Baton Rouge Zoo and learn about the funny, cute and sometimes just plain icky aspects of working in a zoo!

Session 9 - Wet and Wild Week: Going Off the Deep End - You don't have to be on television to be "Swamp People." After all, we are in Louisiana, home to many a swamp and wetland critter. Nutria, gators, catfish and 'taters! Oh my! Campers will get a little lagniappe about the wildlife and culture that makes Louisiana a sportsman's paradise.

Session 10 - Oh, Behave! - Campers will jump into the fun, fantastic and sometimes confusing world of animal behaviors. Using our own zoo animals as examples, we will get a better understanding of how smells, tastes, sounds and visual aids help animals on their quests for life.
