This year at Zippity:
New this year! Photo Contest - Visit our education building (located toward the back of the Zoo next to the Galapagos Tortoise/Flamingo Exhibit) to see the WINNERS of our first photo contest. Sponsored by The Advocate, the photo contest was open to photographers of all ages and experience levels. Winners will be announced at Zippity Zoo Fest, and their printed photos will be on exhibit, gallery-style, throughout the 2-day event. We will also electronically display all photo submissions.
Children's Village - For this special event, we transform our Capital One Pavilion into a Children's Village with a giant inflatable slide and obstacle course. Animal-themed games and crafts are available for children. $1 per child (parents may accompany for free). All proceeds support your Zoo!
New this year! SCVNGR - Explore the Zoo in a whole new way! SCVNGR is a FREE mobile gaming app that allows users to interact with the Zoo through their cellular devices. The Zoo will have a trek where visitors can complete challenges by "checking in" at each station as they take their "journey around the world." Challenges include educational questions along with fun photo challenges. This service usually comes with a cost, but the Zoo is teaming up with an LSU student service-learning project with the Manship School of Communication's Public Relations Writing course. This app will be available beginning March 31 at Zippity Zoo Fest.
Face Painting - What could be more fun than spending the day with tigers, bears and flamingos? Having one painted on your face! Visit our face painting and temporary tattoo station to experience the Zoo in style. $1 per face painting/tattoo.
Safari Snapshot Photo Booth - Say cheese! Amerigroup Louisiana is graciously sponsoring our photo kiosk this year at Zippity. Visit the photo booth, strike multiple poses and enjoy a beautiful, full color photo. It's the perfect memento of your day at Zippity Zoo Fest. $5 per photo; includes 4 poses.
AAZK Booth - Visit the Baton Rouge Chapter of American Association of Zoo Keeper (AAZK). This year at Zippity, AAZK is raising money for Bowling For Rhinos, their national philanthropy. Stop by to talk with our Zoo Keepers, learn about the amazing things they do for rhinos and take your chance at their ring toss game. $1 per try; all proceeds benefit AAZK philanthropy projects, continuing education and professional development.
