Realm of the TigeR
The Zoo's newest exhibit, Realm of the Tiger, is now open! This area immerses Zoo guests in the continent of Asia and features tigers, siamang gibbons, an aviary with beautiful Asian birds, plus a Koi pond and rock garden. Don't miss this world-class exhibit.

South American Cloudforest AdventurEThe South American Cloudforest Adventure includes our habitats for spectacled bears and jaguars. The lush landscaping in these exhibits mimics the mystical quality of these animals' native region. A bubbling stream runs through the bear exhibit, while the jaguars peer from behind vines and dense foliage, educating visitors about the flora and fauna of the cloudforest region.

The Otter PonDThe Otter Pond, our world-class exhibit, features a replicated fishing cabin with underwater viewing of river otters. Don't miss our daily Otter Encounters at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

L'aquarium de Louisiane L'aquarium de Louisiane is the Zoo's aquarium that houses reptiles, fish and amphibians indigenous to the state.

Birds of Prey This exhibit will take you to new heights. Birds of prey, including the king vulture, bald eagle and Andean condor, round out the Zoo's stunning collection of birds from around the world.

Parrot Paradise Visit the parrots, macaws and cockatoos that call the Baton Rouge Zoo home.

Flamingo Café Whether craving something salty or sweet, the Flamingo Café is your destination for food, drinks, ice cream and more.

Flamingo Cove There are five different species of flamingos. They are found in tropical and subtropical regions in South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. Chilean flamingos, the flamingos in the Zoo's exhibit, have grey legs with pink bands at the joints.

Giants of the Islands This exhibit features the Zoo's Aldabra and Galapagos tortoises which are protected because their numbers are decreasing. Trouble started for these 400 to 600 pound giants in the 18th and 19th centuries when whalers and pirates took hundreds of thousands of tortoises for food. The tortoises could survive for long periods on their boats and were a good source of fresh meat.

Birds of the World From the impressive rhinoceros hornbill to the majestic Victoria crown pigeon, visitors will enjoy the Zoo's extensive bird collection. Also notable to this area of the Zoo is the extremely endangered golden lion tamarin. Found only in coastal regions of Brazil, this small monkey has a Species Survival Plan. Accredited Zoos in the United States are working together to breed golden lion tamarins to increase their numbers and reintroduce them in to the wild.

Wildlife Safari TheatreOur amphitheatre hosts theatre programs every weekend at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Get up-close-and-personal with some of the Zoo's feathered, slimy, scaly, prickly and hairy friends.

KidsZooThe popular KidsZoo area houses the Zoo's barnyard animals such as goats, donkeys, rabbits and sheep. Children can play in the contact yard or pretend to be one of the Zoo's prairie dogs and "tunnel" through the exhibit to a viewing hole overlooking the prairie dogs.

Safari PlaygroundAdjacent to the KidsZoo barn, our playground is a "must-visit" area of the Zoo. Featuring a tropical-themed jungle gym with slides, bridges and more, the playground also has a state-of-the-art, rubberized ground covering sure to put a bounce in your step.

Cool Critters CaféOpen seasonally, this café features ice cream and assorted frozen treats to quench an elephant-sized thirst.

Australia Good day mate! No visit to the Zoo is complete without a visit "down under." The Zoo's Australia area is located near KidsZoo. Featuring kangaroos, emus and the beautiful and notorious cassowary birds, this area immerses the visitor in the fauna of this unique continent.

Africa Africa features giraffes, gazelles, zebra, ostriches and more. The Zoo's extensive hoof stock include Nile lechwe, roan antelope, bongos and kudu. The Zoo is also home to three Black rhinos, a male and two females, including the first black rhino born in Louisiana. As visitors wander through Africa, they encounter mixed species exhibits such as the zebra, ostrich and Nile lechwe. This exhibit mimics the plains of Africa and the grouping of animals helps to reinforce the visitor's understanding of how these animals naturally exist in the wild.

Capital One Pavilion Located near the Zoo's entrance, our Pavilion hosts many company picnics, corporate events and soirees.

Cypress Bayou Railroad All aboard! No visit to the Zoo is complete without a ride on the Cypress Bayou Railroad. The ride takes visitors around the perimeter of the Zoo into the unique Louisiana habitat surrounding the core Zoo.

White Tiger TramThe Tram is a narrated sidewalk tour of the Zoo, and is booked by reservation only. Sit back and enjoy the ride as your Zoo guide takes you past many of our animals while sharing interesting facts about each animal along the tour route. Pre-registration only. Please contact our guest services manager at 225-775-3877 option 3 or by email.

Safari Post Gift ShopThe Zoo's gift shop offers unique animal-themed t-shirts, jewelry, posters, books and more. Purchase something special for a loved one or something to remember your WILD day at the Zoo.

Conservation PlazaHelping the planet is not only about reducing our impact on the environment and better managing our resources; it is about valuing all plant and animal species and preserving our remaining ecosystems and habitats.

The revolving globe water feature in the center of the Conservation Plaza is to be a constant reminder of the Zoo's mission of conservation and education. Similarly, the photos on the banners of some of the planet's most endangered animals remind us that our conservation efforts in Baton Rouge have global reaching effects.

Fish Feeding StationsFish food is available for $0.25 at two designated locations. Please only feed fish at these locations.
