Art Gone Wild
BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo and Baton Rouge Parents Magazine present an art contest
with a "wild" side

BATON ROUGE, La.-BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo with Baton Rouge Parents Magazine are excited to announce our second art contest. Let tigers, peacocks, rhinos or the African crowned crane be your inspiration, and let you inner artist go WILD. The grand prize winner will receive an original painting by Bozie, the Zoo's female Asian elephant.

"The arts are critical to understanding, appreciating and enhancing life" said Amy Foreman-Plaisance, Publisher/CEO Baton Rouge Parents Magazine. "Studies show that exposure to the arts builds confidence, promotes individuality and encourages tolerance, focus and learning--improving children's lives overall. Art Gone Wild not only provides an opportunity for locals to get creative, but also broadens our community. We live in a city where people are passionate about art, education and nature, and are honored to provide Baton Rouge residents with a reason to unite those interests. At Baton Rouge Parents Magazine, we are devoted to this city's children and relish this chance to see their creative minds flourish."

The Zoo invites artists of all ages and experience levels to paint or draw the furry, feathered or scaly subject that inspires you most. The deadline for Art Gone Wild submission is November 30. The Zoo does plan to exhibit artwork during ZooLights.

We firmly believe in that core value, and so our resources are devoted to providing necessary information to help parents and families raise healthy, happy families and productive children. The success of our publication results from a heartfelt and profound commitment to children, families and the community we call home.
