November Events at the Zoo

BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is the place to be this November. We have events the entire family can enjoy together, including our overnight program, Safari Nights. Fall Zoo Camp is another opportunity for kids to get up-close with Zoo animals and practice their "Zoo Keeper skills." ZooLights is back. This incredible event features lighted sculptures of your favorite zoo animals and holiday traditions; some displays are animated and are more than 30 feet tall!

Art Gone Wild
Art Gone Wild, presented by Baton Rouge Parents Magazine, is the Baton Rouge Zoo's art contest. The Zoo invites artists of all ages and experience levels to paint or draw the furry, feathered or scaly subject that inspires you most. Let tigers, prairie dogs, rhinos or the African crowned crane be your inspiration, and let you inner artist go WILD. The grand prize winner will receive an original painting by Bozie, the Zoo's female Asian elephant; prizes in various categories include Zoo memberships, behind-the-scenes tours and more! Fall Zoo Camp
Spend your fall break with the WILD bunch. Fall Zoo Camp includes hikes through the Zoo, behind-the-scenes opportunities, keeper chats, arts, crafts and games. to register.

Ages 6-12

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Fee is $35/day per child ($42 out-of-parish)
For your convenience: Early drop off 7:30am and late pick up until 5:30pm

Lions and tigers and LIGHTS! Join us for ZooLights, a holiday tradition in Baton Rouge. Beginning November 23, visitors will enjoy the lights and displays of all your favorite Zoo animals and holiday traditions. Walk through the Zoo and be amazed by larger-than-life light displays.

November 23 - 25
December 1-30 (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas)
Admission Gate Open: 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Zoo grounds close at 9 p.m.
Admission: $5 for Adults/Teens, $4 for Seniors, $3 for Ages 2-12, and Ages 1 and under are free.
Admission for Friends of the Zoo members is $3 per person.


Zoo & Me Mornings
Held the second Tuesday of every month, this program is designed for 3 to 5-year-old children accompanied by a parent or guardian. Programs are 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and will incorporate many exciting activities including a train ride, animal encounters, art projects, "Zooper" snacks and many other hands-on projects that you and your child can enjoy together. Safari Night
Have you ever wondered what the Zoo is like at night? Safari Night programs show you night-life at the Zoo and are available for group reservations on Fridays and Saturdays, year-round. Your Safari Guide will lead your group on walking tours of the Zoo. Designed for your group of 15-30 people, you'll learn all about the Zoo's animals through hands-on activities and animal encounters. All participants receive a Safari Night T-shirt. Enjoy a continental breakfast and the experience of serving breakfast to a Zoo animal!  Cost: $30/person; minimum of 15 people. Pre-registration required. Birthday Parties at the Zoo
Have your next birthday party at the Zoo! Your birthday package includes all day access to the Zoo, a private party room for one and a half hours, animal theme decorations, table wear, cake, ice cream, punch and a train ride. $125 for a party of 8.
