Visit BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo in September
Month features events for the entire family, including a birthday party for a rhino!


 BATON ROUGE, La.-BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is excited to invite you a birthday party...for a rhino! Zuri's Third Birthday Party is just one of many fun events at the Zoo this fall.

 Members' Night at the Zoo

Visit the Zoo on Friday, September 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Members' Night at the Zoo. This special members' appreciation party will include keeper talks, animal encounters and special, behind-the-scenes tours. Members must provide a current membership card and photo ID for admittance to the Zoo. Discover just how WILD your Zoo is - visit for more information.

Zuri's 3rd Birthday Party

On September 29, BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo will host a special day for Zuri, the first black rhino born at our Zoo and in the state of Louisiana. The day celebrates rhinos and will educate our visitors about the struggles they face in the wild. The day will also feature a special "cake" for Zuri made by the Zoo Keepers. The day also includes amphitheatre shows at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Regular Zoo admission applies. or 225.775.3877 for more information.

Zoo & Me Mornings

Held the second Tuesday of every month, this program is designed for 3 to 5-year-old children accompanied by a parent or guardian. Programs are 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and will incorporate many exciting activities including a train ride, animal encounters, art projects, "Zooper" snacks and many other hands-on projects that you and your child can enjoy together. $18/child with one parent or guardian. $30/2 children with one parent or guardian. Safari Night

Have you ever wondered what the Zoo is like at night? Safari Night programs show you night-life at the Zoo and are available for group reservations on Fridays and Saturdays, year-round. Your Safari Guide will lead your group on walking tours of the Zoo. Designed for your group of 15-30 people, you'll learn all about the Zoo's animals through hands-on activities and animal encounters. All participants receive a Safari Night T-shirt. Enjoy a continental breakfast and the experience of serving breakfast to a Zoo animal!  Cost: $30/person; minimum of 15 people. Pre-registration required. Birthday Parties at the Zoo

Have your next birthday party at the Zoo! Your birthday package includes all day access to the Zoo, a private party room for one and a half hours, animal theme decorations, table wear, cake, ice cream, punch and a train ride. $125 for a party of 8. BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is a place where people connect with animals, including elephants, giraffes, rhinos and alligators. The world-class Realm of the Tiger is now open featuring highly endangered tigers, Siamang gibbons and beautiful Asian birds. Visitors can enjoy the Flamingo Cove and Giants of the Islands, featuring the Zoo's Chilean flamingos and Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises, as well as the Safari Playground, the Otter Pond, our exhibit featuring a replicated fishing cabin with underwater viewing of the otters, L'aquarium de Louisiane, Parrot Paradise and KidsZoo. Adults and children can ride the Cypress Bayou Railroad on a scenic ride through the unique Louisiana habitat that surrounds the core Zoo.
