This breed of sheep has its origins with the Spanish explorers that came to Florida and the Gulf Coast of the United States. These sheep are well adapted to the humid climate and are resistant to internal parasites and hoof rot.
The wool of this sheep can be used for yarn or felt. This breed is also used for milk and meat.
