Prehensile-tailed Skink
This lizard is well adapted for its life in trees. It has strong, sharp claws and is the only skink with a prehensile, or grasping, tail.
Females usually give birth to one baby, although twinning does occur. The baby can be 1/3 the size of the female. This species shows an unusual amount of parental care for a reptile. The young will stay with its parents for six months or more and both parents will defend it against predators.
