Striped Bark Scorpion
This is the most widespread species of scorpion in the U.S. and the most frequently encountered. While the sting is venomous it is not considered lethal to humans.
Young are born live after an eight-month gestation during which they are nourished by the female’s body. Immediately after birth they climb onto the mother’s back and remain there for protection until their first molt.
