Boo at the Zoo

  • October 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th 

  • Zoo admissions gate open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m./Zoo grounds close at 5 p.m.

  • Regular Zoo admissions apply & free for Friends of the Zoo Members. 

  • Due to COVID-19 safeguards, the Zoo will be pre-packaging treat bags for all children ages 12 and under to collect upon exiting their adventure at the Zoo. There will not be treat stations around the Zoo, as in the past. This is being done to prevent crowding & eliminate additional touch points.

  • Protective face masks are not required for guests to enjoy the Zoo, but are encouraged. Masks must be worn to enter the gift shop and restrooms.

  • The most creative face masks will be posted on the Zoo’s Facebook page for fan voting. The guest wearing the most admired mask will win a free Annual Friends of the Zoo Membership.

  • Social distancing will be enacted with a one-way path through the Zoo, as well as frequent signage reminders. costumes continue to be encouraged for all attendees.

  • Halloween costumes are encouraged for all guests. We love to see your imagination and festive ideas! 

  • Traditional Fall & Halloween themed structures & pumpkins will be sprinkled throughout the zoo for festive photo opportunities.

  • Holiday-themed enrichments will be provided to the Zoo’s animal friends throughout the day.

  • Our Hay Maze will continue to be available for $1, however, masks will be required to enter and a maximum of 10 individuals will be allowed in at one time.

  • The Zoo will offer regular café service, as well as additional vendor-sold refreshments in the Food Court. The dining area will be spaced appropriately and sanitized often.

Q: What are the hours for Boo at the Zoo?

A: Admissions are open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Zoo grounds close at 5 p.m.

Q: How old do you have to be to trick-or-treat?

A: Treats are for children under the age of 12.

Q: Is parking free?

A: Parking is free, but the parking lot often fills up for Boo at the Zoo. Deputies will assist directing traffic, but please "bear" with us. Cars will be permitted to enter as soon as spots become available. It's best to get there early!

Q: What about parking in nearby neighborhoods?

A: The Zoo does not recommend, encourage or endorse parking or paying to park in neighboring areas. The safest option is to use the Zoo's parking lot.

Q: Is your event scary?

A: Boo at the Zoo is a merry, not scary Halloween event.

Q: Can we bring our own snacks and beverages?

A: Outside snacks and beverages are not allowed inside the Zoo, but feel free to enjoy your Zoo favorites at our Flamingo Cafe, or try out the Food Court!

Q: Can we bring pets?

A: We're sorry, but no pets allowed. An exception is made for certified service dogs.
