Military Macaw

The military macaw is a very vocal, social bird and in the wild will be heard long before it is seen. The name "military" may refer to the military personnel that first imported them to Europe.

Like many parrot species these birds are disappearing in the wild due to deforestation and poaching for the pet trade.
