Louisiana Pine Snake

Logging, development and agricultural conversion along with a naturally low reproductive rate have combined to make this one of the rarest snakes in the U.S.

At least 2/3 of its original habitat has been destroyed and the remaining snakes are found in only six isolated pockets of pine forest.
