Golden Lion Tamarin

Much of the golden lion tamarin's habitat has been lost because of the logging and clearing of forests for development. Over 120 institutions worldwide participate in a captive breeding program to help ensure their survivial.

Golden lion tamarins usually give birth to twins. All members of the troop help take care of the babies and the mother may only carry them long enough to nurse them before another tamarin takes them away.
