Ball Python

The ball python is a nocturnal snake that owes its name to its primary defense - rolling up in a tight ball. Due to its rather docile nature they have been taken out of the wild in large numbers to be sold as pets.

The heat pits along the upper lip help this snake find its warm-blooded prey in total darkness. It can sense a change in temperature as slight as 3/1000ths of a degree.
