BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo’s AAZK Chapter to Host “Bowling for Rhinos”

May 08 2018

Baton Rouge, La – On Friday, June 15, BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo’s American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) Chapter will host Bowling for Rhinos from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Circle Bowl at 8878 Florida Blvd. All Proceeds from this event will go Rhino Conservation!

The American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) is a nonprofit volunteer organization (U.S. 501c3) made up of professional zoo keepers and other interested persons dedicated to professional animal care and conservation. Each Chapter hosts events and fundraisers throughout the year promoting professionalism in the zoo keeper field and global conservation.

Each year the American Association of Zoo keepers (AAZK) sponsors a fund raising bowl-a-thon called "Bowling For Rhinos" (BFR).  Over 60 AAZK chapters participate throughout the US and Canada including The Baton Rouge Zoo Chapter of AAZK, raising over $300,000 annually.

Rhinos have lived on earth for over 50 million years but whether they survive even 50 more years is open to speculation. Only five species of rhino exist. Only about 25,000 of these marvelous creatures survive in the wild with another 1,250 in captivity - including the 2 species or rhinoceros at the Baton Rouge Zoo!

Each entry is $20, which includes bowling fees for 3 hours, shoe rental and a silent auction.

Tickets can be purchased online:
