BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo Honors International Cheetah Day

BATON ROUGE, LA.— BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will honor International Cheetah Day on Saturday, December 3rd from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. This species is on the Vulnerable and Endangered of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is a part of this organization’s SAFE program (Saving Animals from Extinction). Between 2011 and 2015, 59 AZA-accredited Zoos & Aquariums invested nearly $1.6 million in cheetah conservation. The Baton Rouge Zoo is an AZA accredited Zoo and hosts a 5K Zoo Run Run each August to financially support the cause.


The Zoo will host special activities to incorporate awareness & education of cheetah conservation including the following:


·       Keeper chats near the cheetah exhibit  

·       Biofact cart to learn more about the species

·       Cheetah face painting
